 How AMAX Works

Base Model

Base model using Indirect/Direct (IDEC) evaporative cooling only.

The AMAX� design uses an integrated �cooling tower� to chill water to near the ambient wet bulb temperature. This chilled water is then pumped through the indirect coil to pre-cool fresh outdoor air. This air then passes through direct evaporative media to supply air to the conditioned space at a temperature below the ambient wet bulb. This design offers a simple and robust system that uses a constant water circuit to transfer heat from the supply air stream to the exhaust air stream through evaporative cooling. The basic AMAX� design can be customized to supply Indirect Evaporative Cooled air (IEC) without added humidity. Additional cooling can be achieved through integrated chilled water coils or a full integrated compressor circuit.

AMAX is also offered in the Powered Economiser� configuration. Powered Economisers� are an inexpensive supplement to Direct Expansion (DX) cooling systems and use the blower fan in the DX system to supply pre-cooled air. Powered Economisers� can be used to extend the �free cooling season� in when outdoor air will satisfy cooling requirements. Or this equipment can be used as a pre-cooler for condensers to extend DX equipment life, minimize energy consumption and reduce DX equipment size and installed cost.
